1. In one sentence
Kamae runs entirely on your Mac. Neither the camera feed nor your posture data ever leaves your device. We do not keep your data on any server. The app talks to the outside world for exactly three reasons (each connection is logged and visible in Settings → Privacy):
- Activating, checking and deactivating your license (Lemon Squeezy)
- Checking for and downloading app updates (GitHub)
- Only when you choose to send them: error reports and feedback (our intake server)
We do not collect usage analytics or telemetry.
2. Camera and posture data
- The camera feed is converted on-device into posture metrics (shoulder height, shoulder width, tilt). The video itself is never stored or transmitted.
- Raw metrics are not stored either; only per-minute aggregates (e.g. the share of time in good posture) are written to a local SQLite database
in
~/Library/Application Support/Kamae/. - Calibration values (your reference posture) are stored locally only.
- Deleting the app and that folder removes everything. We hold no copy.
3. Connections that leave your Mac
3.1 License (Lemon Squeezy)
When you activate, validate or deactivate the license key issued at purchase, the app sends the following to the API of our payment provider,
Lemon Squeezy, LLC (api.lemonsqueezy.com):
- your license key
- a device name used to tell your Macs apart (your Mac's computer name plus the first 8 characters of your macOS user name)
This is needed to limit one license to 2 Macs. After activation the app works offline; validation happens at most once every 7 days. Your name, e-mail address and payment details are processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record (Lemon Squeezy privacy policy). For license management we can see the order number, e-mail address and license key in the Lemon Squeezy dashboard.
3.2 Update check (GitHub)
At launch and periodically, the app asks github.com / objects.githubusercontent.com whether a new version exists. No personal data is included
(as with any HTTP request, your IP address and the app version reach GitHub). You can turn this off in Settings.
3.3 Error reports and feedback (our intake server)
Off by default. The app sends data to our intake server (atsumel.funbrew.ltd) only when:
- after an unexpected quit, the next launch shows you exactly what would be sent and you choose "Send once" or "Always send", or
- you submit the feedback form in Settings.
What is sent: app version, macOS version, CPU architecture, display language, time since launch, the error type, message and stack trace (your home folder path and user name are redacted before sending), and the most recent error records (up to 50). For feedback: your message and, only if you want a reply, the e-mail address you type in.
What is never sent: camera images, posture data, any device identifier, your computer name, your e-mail address (unless you type it into the feedback form). To count repeated occurrences of the same error we include a short hash derived from where the error happened; it does not identify a device or a person.
The intake server is operated by us and the reports are used solely to fix bugs and improve the product. Raw reports are deleted after 30 days, resolved records after 90 days. Your IP address appears in the server's connection logs but is not linked to reports. If you choose "Always send", non-fatal error records are also sent, batched at most once per day. You can switch back to "Don't send" at any time in Settings → Privacy.
4. Personal data we hold
| Data | Source | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order number, e-mail address, license key | Lemon Squeezy | License management, customer support | 5 years after end of sale (bookkeeping obligations) |

| Support correspondence | You | Customer support | 1 year |
We do not share personal data with third parties except where required by law.
5. Your rights
You may request access to, correction, deletion or restriction of the personal data we hold about you via the contact above. If you are in the EU / EEA / UK, you have the rights under the GDPR (UK GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (license management), your consent (error reports and feedback) and legitimate interest (update checks). If you are a California resident, you have the rights under the CCPA / CPRA. We do not sell or share personal information.
